Interruption is an interference with the limitation period. If a limitation period is interrupted, the limitation period starts again afterwards.

When is that the case?

Interruption can take place in various ways, namely by:

  • an act of prosecution;
  • a letter of formal notice or notice; and
  • recognition of the right by the debtor.
