Failed Automation

An educational institution wanted to have a new website developed for the new school year. The supplier kept promising that the site would be finished on time but failed. Moreover, he was not doing his job well. The educational institution was very disappointed by this and engaged LAWFOX.

LAWFOX’s lawyers ensured that the customer could continue with another supplier. The damage and costs were recovered from the failing website builder, who was legally forced to pay. The educational institution has been compensated and has been able to have a new site developed.

Copyright Infringement

A renowned lawyer has written several books about his field. A software vendor paid the lawyer a royalty fee for the use and distribution of the copyrighted works in a software program. After years of cooperation, the lawyer terminated the agreement. Then the following happened: The software vendor refused to remove the licensed know-how from the program and did not want to reach new agreements.

For years, a large internet company has built up a collection of name and address data from connected SMEs. The company found that a copyright organization had requested this name and address details from the website and subsequently sold licenses to these SMEs.

The internet company sued the organization for infringement of database law and unlawful processing of personal data. Without success. LAWFOX’s attorneys then sued the organization to stop the breach. The organization gave in and the two sides reached a solution, under pressure from a court hearing.
