B2C

B2c (Business-to-Consumer) is a designation used for trade between a professional company and a consumer. This is, for example, different from companies that do business with each other (B2B).

The distinction is legally relevant

From a legal point of view, this distinction is relevant because a lot of mandatory law applies to trade between a business and a consumer (b2c). In principle, when professional parties do business with each other (i.e. b2b), they have the freedom to agree on what the parties want (freedom of contract).

Also, some laws only apply to b2c relations and not to b2b relations. An example of this is the Distance Selling Act.
