DNS

DNS stands for Domain Name System. The DNS is a large address book for the internet. The system and network protocol are used on the Internet to translate computer names. This includes, for example, translating a domain name into numeric addresses, such as an IP address, and numeric addresses into computer names. Worldwide DNS management is entrusted to the ICANN organization.
