“In good faith” is a legal concept in civil law and originates from the Latin term bona fide. A good faith act means that the person who performs the act does not know or should not reasonably know that the act is not lawful.
Misrepresentation
The person who acts in good faith acts with fair motives and – if misrepresented – can be protected by law if he “unknowingly” acts wrongfully.
Acting in good faith is the opposite of acting in bad faith (malafide).
