Internet-of-Things

The “Internet of Things” (in Dutch: Internet der Dingen) is a network of all kinds of objects that are connected to the Internet (possibly using blockchain). These objects (e.g. vehicles, equipment and buildings) can communicate with each other via the internet. The Internet of Things is an infrastructure composed of physical and virtual objects that communicate with each other through sensors and computer programs. The idea is that the Internet of Things makes life easier for people because objects can communicate with each other.

There is some criticism on the Internet of Things. Consequently, it is said that security would not be adequately addressed during development. Certain structures (bridges or locks) that are connected to the internet can be hacked. This can lead to unsafe situations.

Another criticism is in the area of ​​privacy. If everything – from the kettle to the energy meter – is connected to the internet, this can lead to a loss of privacy. Especially when the network is not sufficiently secured.
