(Periodic) Penalty Payments

A judge can attach a penalty to a conviction. This is also referred to as a penalty order. The convicted party must then pay a certain amount (the penalty payment) to the other party if the conditions from the conviction are not complied with. Periodic penalty payments are often forfeited per unit of time (for example, per day).
