Standard Software

Standard software is software that has not been developed for one specific party and can, therefore, be used by a large group of users. Advantages of standard software are the relatively low costs and the fact that errors are quickly discovered and solved. One of the drawbacks, however, is that standard software (almost) never has the precise functionalities requested by a party.

Software that is tailor-made for a specific party is called customization.
