UDPR stands for Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy. Under the UDPR Policy, most brand-related domain name disputes must be resolved through an agreement, lawsuit or arbitration before the registrar is allowed to cancel or suspend the domain name. This policy has been drawn up by ICANN. In addition, the UDPR policy regulates that disputes related to abuse of domain name registrations (such as cybersquatting) are addressed through administrative procedures. The trademark holder can file a complaint about this with an approved Dispute-Resolution Service Provider.
To invoke the UDPR policy, a trademark owner must (a) lodge a complaint with a court with jurisdiction to hear the domain name lawsuit or (b) file a complaint with an approved Dispute-Resolution Service in the event of a wrongful domain name registration. Provider.
