Software-as-a-Service

Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) includes the provision and use of software as an online service. Where software has traditionally been purchased for a one-time fee, the software is offered at SaaS in a subscription form.

SaaS services offer some advantages for both the customer and the supplier. Maintenance, service and support of the software are completely outsourced to the supplier so that the customer does not have to worry about this.

The supplier receives a fee for the services per period and therefore has a fixed income stream.

Often in a corresponding service-level agreement (SLA), a certain level of service is agreed at a fixed price. Additional services can be purchased by the customer at the hourly rate of the supplier agreed in the SLA.
